This engaging 2-hour workshop with Carolyn Childs introduces participants to the versatility of encaustic painting and explores a variety of techniques using a hot iron and encaustic wax. In addition to foundational encaustic techniques, Carolyn will introduce collage elements, layering imagery and materials beneath translucent beeswax to create richly textured, luminous mixed-media pieces. A certified K–12 art teacher, she holds a BFA in Creative Arts Therapy and an MA in Art Education Leadership, with a focus on mindfulness and the healing arts. Carolyn has taught art in a wide range of settings—from public and private schools to healthcare institutions—and brings a deep commitment to the therapeutic power of creative expression.
