It was thrown through a window, landed outside with heavy smoke and water damages and various scratches. This painting was brought back to good health by Master Conservator, Troy Amuso. REGISTER FOR THE 2-PART SERIES Part I: May 7 Presentation Witness dramatic restoration firsthand and discover the hidden dangers that threaten paintings. Preventive tips and restoration techniques will be illustrated with visual examples from collections across the northeast as well as our own. Inspired by the beloved Antiques Roadshow, this engaging presentation explores the fascinating world of fine art conservation. During the program, Troy Amuso will share real examples of damaged paintings and explain the careful techniques used by professional conservators to restore artworks while preserving their historical integrity. Guests will learn: Why paintings deteriorate over time How conservators assess condition and provide evaluations for remedies The science behind cleaning and stabilization How restoration can bring artworks back to life The evening will include a live evaluation of selected paintings submitted by attendees, offering a rare opportunity to see how a conservator examines artwork and determines the best path for preservation. REGISTER FOR PART I ONLY Part II: May 14 Live Evaluation Evoking the spirit of Antiques Roadshow, five submitted paintings will be selected for live, in-person evaluations by Amuso. Guests who own an oil painting and are curious about its condition or restoration potential may submit it for consideration. Participants can upload information through an online form, including: Front and back photos of the painting Dimensions Any known history or provenance Contact information Five paintings will be selected in advance for live evaluation during the program. Selected participants will be notified and invited to bring their painting to the event. Attendance at the program is welcome whether or not you submit a painting. If your painting is not selected for the May 14 talk, Mr. Amuso will schedule a consultation with you to ensure your questions about your painting are answered.
