@ The Watkins Museum of History of Lawrence, Kansas, is accepting applications for the inaugural 2026 Undergraduate Regional History Essay Award. Any undergraduate student enrolled in a history class at the University of Kansas or Haskell Indian Nations University may apply for this award. The Watkins Museum will present one award to one student from the University of Kansas and Haskell Indian Nations University respectively. We welcome applications from students working in any period, area, or specialization of history, but we encourage applications about the U.S. Central Plains. Your submitted essay should be tied to one of your history courses, and it should have been written in the 2025-26 academic year. If you are unsure about your essay’s qualification, please contact us. Application Form Students must fill out applications and submit them with their essays as either a PDF or Word Document by May 1st to Will Haynes, Deputy Director for Public Engagement, Watkins Museum of History, whaynes@watkinsmuseum.org.
